Latisse is a prescription to treat patients with not enough or inadequate eyelashes. New Jersey and New York City patients that receive Latisse treatments notice their eyelashes grow longer, fuller, and darker. Patients that treat their eyelashes with Latisse don’t need to get eyelashes extensions to have beautiful large long and fuller eyelashes.

What should I expect with LATISSE?

Great eyelashes don’t just happen overnight. That’s why it’s important to note that LATISSE solution works gradually and remarkably — with full results at week 16. Once you begin, you must continue applying the topical solution each night and follow the directions for best results. If you stop using LATISSE at any time, your eyelashes will return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

LATISSE was discovered when its active ingredient, formally used for the treatment of glaucoma, found that glaucoma patients had increased length, darkening and/ thickening of their eyelashes. This desirable effect led to the use of this drug for cosmetic purposes. As the LATISSE treatment progresses, you’ll first begin to see changes in length. Then, gradually, you’ll notice more thickness and darkness in your lashes. If you’re satisfied with your results by week 8, don’t stop there. Stick with the treatment. After week 16, you’ll see the full effect of LATISSE solution — and so will others. After that, you can talk to your doctor about ongoing use.

How do you apply LATISSE?

LATISSE is best applied to a clean surface. Before getting started, be sure to remove makeup and contacts. Always use the sterile, disposable, FDA-approved applicator provided in the kit when applying LATISSE. Do not try to apply with a cotton swab. Only apply LATISSE to the base of upper lashes, not the lower lid.

If you miss a dose one night, don’t apply more just to catch up. Simply apply LATISSE the next evening and stay on schedule.

Don’t let the tip of the bottle or applicator contact your fingers or any other unintended surface, in order to avoid contamination by common bacteria known to cause infections.

When you start using LATISSE solution, be sure to mark your calendar and take pictures throughout weeks (0, 4, 8, 12, 16), so you can have your own “Before & After Gallery.”

What are the side effects of using LATISSE to enhance eyelashes in New Jersey and New York City?

LATISSE does have some side effects, the most common of which are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. These were reported in approximately 4% of patients.

Other less common side effects typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE is applied, or in the eyes. These include eyelid skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids.

Eyelid skin darkening is a result of increased melanin in the skin, making your eyelid skin look a little darker close to where the solution is applied to the skin. This is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product.

If you’re using LATISSE solution and you develop a new ocular condition or reaction (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, or need to have eye surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor immediately concerning the continued use of LATISSE.

What are the advantages of LATISSE over Eyelashes Extensions?

Eyelash extensions can break your natural lashes and take months to grow back. LATISSE lengthens and thickens your eyelashes. It depends on the look you like. LATISSE is worth a try and is easy to maintain. The benefit to using LATISSE eyelash treatment is that is your own natural eyelashes that grow darker, longer and thicker. You do not have artificial eyelashes and glue on/around your eye.

LATISSE eyelashes treatment is a better option over eyelashes extension because it doesn’t damage your own eyelashes and doesn’t give you a “fake” eyelashes look. Many women over time damage their lids, follicles, and eye lashes from eyelashes extensions. LATISSE, different to extensions, makes your own lashes longer, fuller and darker. With LATISSE eyelash treatment, there is no glue or anything applied to your eyelids or eyelashes. Therefore, you won’t damage your eyelashes or eyelids with LATISSE. Eyelash extensions have to be maintained and reapplied, and it can cause a be severe damage your eyelashes (eyelashes that are pulled during eyelash extension “touch ups” may not regrow). When you calculate the annual cost of eyelashes extensions vs. LATISSE eyelash treatment, you will notice significant savings (up to $900 per year) when treating with LATISSE over eyelashes extensions.
