Otoplasty New Jersey
Otoplasty is a cosmetic surgery procedure that is designed to reduce overly large or prominent ears to create a more normal ear appearance. Kids who are born with overly large ears or ears that stick out from the side of the head, often become easy targets for their peers. The senseless teasing of peers can damage the self-esteem of kid well into adulthood. The Otoplasty procedure is performed with an incision in the crease of the ears and the cartilage removed and/or reshaped to create the ideal ear shape desired.
Otoplasty can be performed on kids as young as 5 years of age and older, though it is generally recommended the earlier it is performed the better as the cartilage is more malleable.
