Before & After

View MoreCheek fillers are a minimally invasive, injectable treatment to increase volume in the area above and around the cheekbones. Several types of dermal fillers are available for a custom cheek augmentation. They include hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, or a filler that produces longer-term results such as Sculptra®.
The decrease in volume of facial bones and loss of facial fat can occur as the years pass. This can lead to loss of cheek volume, along with wrinkles, lines, and a sagging jawline. If you’re bothered by volume loss in the cheek area, you may be a good candidate for cheek augmentation with injectable fillers. You may have inherited a facial structure that lacks visible cheekbones, and desire a more sculpted look. Creating a subtle volume at the cheek area can provide you with a more refined facial profile and enhance your natural beauty.

Cheek augmentation with fillers is a fast outpatient procedure. The dermal filler used in your treatment may contain a local anesthetic, or the doctor may apply a topical numbing cream at the injection sites. Injections are a simple process that is completed in less than 30 minutes.
You can return to work or your usual activities immediately after cheek filler injections. Avoid strenuous exercise and sleeping on your face for the first few days. Keep your face clean and dry, and avoid touching it to minimize the risk of infection.
oid any blood-thinning medications or supplements for two weeks before cheek filler injections. If you are taking any of these, let Dr. Mesa know during your consultation.
How long results last can vary widely, depending on the type of filler used. Some of the new generation fillers are longer lasting. For example, Juvéderm Voluma XC, a hyaluronic acid filler approved by the FDA for adding volume to the cheeks, can last up to two years with optimal treatment.
Hyaluronic acid-based fillers can be melted away with another injection should you feel you want to return to your natural look.
